Herbs For Animals

Animals and Herbs

If you think carefully and analytically, herbs also have several therapeutic uses in the case of many pet animals and farm animals, be they your favorite cat, farm horse or a pet dog. Herbs are as effective on pet animals as they are on human beings! Usage of herbs to cure diseases in animals is probably as old as the known history of herbs themselves; earliest records of herbal remedies were reported by European Gypsies, and these herbs have proved useful through many descending generations.

Earliest grass and forage feeding animals found their own herbal cure mechanisms, during their daily grazing exercise among the rich, green forage fields. However, domestic and pet animals like cats, dogs, cows, horses, chicken and rabbits did face health problems on many occasions. The useful nature of herbs was later recognized and domestic animals were also treated with herbal drugs to cure several diseases and illnesses.

However, you may find it difficult to feed herbal concoctions and drugs to your pet animals. Most of these animals take these herbal drugs when mixed with molasses or honey. Strong herbs could be mixed with black currant syrups or native Asian Jaggery or even plenty of honey.
