Evening Primrose is a native of North America from where it was imported to Italy and then carried to all the parts of Europe. It is naturally found near river banks and other sandy places. Today, it is grown in home gardens in many parts of the U.K.

The Evening primrose is a hardy plant and it will thrive in almost any soil or condition. Fairly sandy and light soil with warm sunny exposure offers the optimum conditions for the plant. The bark and leaves of the plant is used for medicinal purposes. The bark of the plant is peeled and dried before use.
